Calinawan Cave, Daranak Falls & Other Tanay Destinations

April 6, 2012 6 comments

Today’s blog took me wandering around my hometown to look for something new to write about. Growing up as a Rizaleño, I want to show the entire country and maybe the whole world that our place maybe underrated when it comes to tourism, but wait until you get to know our province. We may not have the best white sand beaches, we may not have the fanciest hotels, but we have everything in the middle that will equally satisfy the cravings of the intrepid traveler. Let’s travel to a town nestled at the foot of the Sierra Madre Mountain Range on the east and at the shores of Laguna Lake on the south – welcome to Tanay, Rizal. Read more…

Rodriguez, Rizal: Nature Trip To Wawa Dam

May 29, 2011 10 comments

There’s nothing much to do one weekend so I browsed the internet looking for something to shoot. A friend posted about her recent trip in La Mesa Eco Park and asked her details, but unfortunately the budget always gets in the way, so  save this destination some other time. For now, I’m setting foot at the far end of my home town, Rodriguez. Read more…

Holy Week is one of the most observed holiday among the many Christian Holidays in the Philippines where Catholicism is the major religion. Non-working day starts on a Maundy Thursday until the Easter Sunday. Some prefer to stay at home, rest, and reflect while others take advantage of the 4-day long weekend to go out of town, escape from their usual routines and spend time with family and friends.

We have yet to recover from the budget spent from our recent Boracay trip so we have to resort to a minimal expense getaway but still have a taste of salt water on our lips and feel the warmth of the sunny day on our skin. To cut expenses from the North and South Luzon Toll fees, lessen gas budget, and shorten the travel time to and from the destination, we headed East towards the Pacific Coast in a small town called Real, Quezon. Going to and from the office, I always pass by this park but never got a chance to drop by. Out of curiosity, I stopped by and saw many people jogging, exercising, some simply felt like sitting on the grass and chat with their friends, fellow workers and students.

This was shot in film.

For almost 20 years, I’ve been residing in Cainta, but was not really going around town much until I started researching interesting sights nearby. I stumbled upon a place about 5 minutes from Valley Golf, and I was amazed that such place exist not far from where I reside. Taytay is the neighboring town of Cainta, and there lies a waterfalls I never imagined it existed. Curiosity got me excited so I left the house before the sun goes up, but the rain starts pouring down, yet I still went on with my agenda. Read more…

Typhoon was brewing up north, and heavy clouds started towering the skies here in the east. Reports on local news said that CALABARZON was under signal no. 1, and rains are to be expected. There was nothing to do except to pay the bills. Suddenly, a road trip crossed my mind but I don’t have enough gas money to go very far, and the weather was unpredictable. I decided to go look for something new but spend a little as much as possible. And a small town in Rizal called Angono could be the perfect spot. Read more…
