Flanking Quezon Province are two large bodies of water with the vast Pacific Ocean on the east and Tayabas Bay on its west. Squeezed in between the ocean and sea are marvelous beaches sprawling in the coastal towns of the province, but I didn’t imagine a pristine white beach exist in Pagbilao, Quezon until I’ve been to Puting Buhangin Beach.
A small boat parked in front of the beach
See what I mean by crystal clear?
True to its name, Puting Buhangin literally means “white sand” and this Pagbilao paradise will guarantee its visitors the powdery sands of Boracay but within a few hours drive from Manila. The 30-minute manageable hike rewards the intrepid traveler with a cool bath in crystal clear waters. With Puting Buhangin’s calmly sweeping shores, it offers safety not only for adults but for kids as well.
Resting at the tip of the long stretch of white sand is Kuwebang Lampas, cave which leading to the other side of the beach. Be careful, however, during high tide for water almost fills up the cave so children should be watched. On the other hand, during high tide, the water’s height would be perfect for an adrenalin pumping jump on a probably a 25-30 meter drop.
Passing by varying sizes of rocks to the cave.
Inside Kuwebang Lampas.
Kwebang Lampas
Going there is quite difficult but still manageable. From Manila, one will pass by the South Luzon Expressway and take Sto. Tomas Exit and follow the National Road which will pass by the towns of Laguna. Welcoming travelers would be the arch in Tiaong which divides the provinces of Laguna and Quezon. There are diversion roads you can pass by if you want to avoid the traffic in some towns, and cut the travel time to Lucena by approximately 30 minutes. Head South until you pass by the town of Pagbilao and look for Binahaan Elementary School on your right, and a Team Energy Powerplant sign on your left. Turn at the corner which will lead you to the said power plant.
Passing by semi-dirt road.
Upon reaching the gate beside Team Energy Powerplant, a registration fee of P100.00 per car is charged. Local sari sari stores are in the area so might as well do your last minute shopping for provisions. A short drive on rough terrain will lead you to the car park where an overnight parking fee of P200.00 per car is again charged.
A short hike beside the Team Energy Powerplant, walk on a paved cement under the scorching heat, traversing the rocky shoreline, and under the shade of thick trees on a forest will lead you to the refreshing view of Puting Buhangin Beach. A caretaker said that it was a private place so we were again charged with P50.00 per head entrance fee. It was on a holy week when we went there so we were sharing the beach with other tourist and travelers.

Beautiful view during the short hike.

magkanu po kaya ang all expenses pag punta dito.. thanks!!
Hello. Anyway, heads up lang yun. Have a nice and safe trip!
Nakapunta ba kayo recently? Ano balita? Medyo nahassle din kami dahil magulo nga siya kausap kung siya pa rin yung caretaker last year holy week.
where did you leave your car? thnx
Hi, g.swag. We left the car beside Team Energy Power Plant. There’s a parking lot which cost P200 yata for overnight parking. Thanks for visiting my page. I hope I was able to help you. Have a nice day and be safe on your trip. =)
Hi po…were planning to go there by weekend…gusto po sana namin magovernight dun sino po yung pede kausapin dun? kasi may nabasa po ko sa ibang blog na kelangan kausapin po si Atty. Peter Lukang sa Lucena City for permission to stay overnight daw po & do you have any contact no. po ng caretaker or kung sino po pede namin makausap prior to our trip po? thanks in advance for your response and
God bless po;)
Hi Alexia. Yes, I’ve read the blog about Atty. Lukang, but unfortunately, I don’t have any contacts. Magdadala ba kayong auto?
Ingat kayo sa biyahe. Enjoy. =)
thank you so much sa reply:) Nakamotor po kami lahat…san po kaya namin pede iwan na safe or pede po ba ipasok yung motor sa beach mismo?
Astig. Masaya yun, a.
Hello, gusto ko lang rin magtanong, so we are planning for a family reunion, want to have a complete arrangement yong package kasi 2 or 3 family´s from friday-sunday…who is the right person na pwedeng kontakin dito..want to have legal stay and to avoid hasle and to have a sure nice weekend….thanks. sa.any suggestions at tulong.
Hi Marilou,
You could try contacting Silangang Nayon Resort & Restaurant, tingin ko merong silang rooms na pwedeng magaccommodate ng big groups. Unfortunately, I don’t have their number.
great! thanks a lot dude! great help ka talaga;) God bless…
No problem, Jing. Ingat sa biyahe. =)
photos are superb! something I myself didn’t even learn from my photog classes back in college
amazing shots!
Thanks, Lurds.=)
Is there a bus from manila to pagbilao or puting buhangin resort? if so where is the bus terminal…..thank you!!
Hi Emma. All buses to Bicol pass by the town of Pagbilao. Or, you can take a bus bound to Lucena from either Buendia, Kamias, or Cubao. Get off in Lucena Terminal. From Lucena, there are vans and jeeps to Pagbilao.
Have a safe trip. Enjoy.
yung red n bangka sa father q un alam q un…………..
TARA NAH …………….. mag saya sa puting buhangin
Talaga? Wow!!!
I messaged you in your e-mail. Thanks, Aneth. Have a nice day.
What would be the possible complications to avoid during the trip? Thanks
Hello Pye! Well, the only problem I see is if camping in Puting Buhangin is allowed. I was there Holy Week, two years ago and we had to sweet talk and bribe the caretaker to allow us to camp since it’s a private property. If in case, it’s not allowed, there are nearby lodging areas like Silangang Nayon where you can stay for the night and take a boat to Puting Buhangin. Recently, a friend told me that there are lots of white beach in the area aside from Puting Buhangin, you might want to check it out.
Hopefully I was able to help, I haven’t visited the place ever since so I’m not sure. If you went on with your trip, can you get back at me with the recent changes and how to’s in the area, I’m plannng to go back soon.
Thank you, and have a safe trip. =)
hi barat…nice blog..very impormative…going there tom with my team..thanks
–boy kuripot
Thank you, sir. Haven’t been there for a while. I’m really looking forward to revisiting it. Are you camping in Puting Buhangin, Sir?
very helpful blog sir! our team is planning to go there this coming 27th. Lalo akong na e-excite sa mga photo’s mo. too bad day tour lang kami.. for sure bitin ‘to.
Hi Sir Francis.
Madami na kaming nabasa na magagandang reviews about the place. Salamat!
Well… that I’m not really sure. I would suggest that you have a back up plan. Let’s say, ‘di nila payagan overnight, there’s a resort called Silangang Nayon. It’s one of the known resorts in Pagbilao. I want to go there also, so I can improve my blog about Puting Buhangin. Nagresearch na rin kase ako about diyan dati kaso talagang walang may definite na sagot, e.
hi,pwede b magovernyt?
Hi Aivee. Nakapag-overnight kami sa Puting Buhangin mismo, pero now, I’m not sure if they allow it. I’m so sorry, haven’t been back for quite some time.
Hi Barat…been there last Mar 23 fri night with my FA Team..thank you very much for you blog!
It more fun in Pagbilao! It a must place to go in Quezon!
It is highly reccomendable for nature lovers, seeking for apeace of mind and want to escape the city life!! just hear the sound of nature.
Our plan is just a day hike but we lasted 2 days & 2 nights! ayaw na namin iwan ang puting buhangin!
We got a direct contact person from Kanto ng Binahaan Elem School name Tatay Elly na napaka bakit at napaka supportive..sinamahan nya kami the entire trip. then ate gemma the caretake of puting buhangin is also the receptionist, we paid entrance fee 100P/each for overnight stay. 350 for the cottage and 250 for the banka ,250 parking fee balikan na un.me dala kami 2 tent..pagdating sa puting buhangin..andun si lando d cearetaker..i a assist agad kayo sa needs nyo…kami lang ang tao dun till 9AM..siguro the whole day is umabot ng 100 ang tao..but it is not crowded…walang lasing..walang maingay..kasi alang kuryente…masarap..nakaka relax..at ang place..di matatawaran ang ganda…puntahan nyo na lang at ingatan…leave no traces pag alis nyo…sana wag maging commercialized ito…sana ganun na lang..para hindi masala-ula ng mga walang pagpapaphalaga ke mother nature….too many to mentione about good things of this island..nagkaroon na ako ng baseline ng beach!..kung di rin lang puting buhangin…wag na lang.!
Its really more fun in the Phillipines!
Salamt ke mother nature at syempre….ke barat!
Woooooow! Thank you very much sa information, Sir. Babalik ako dun soon ngayong summer, write about it, and mention you. Actually i-edit ko na ‘tong blog to inform them. Do you have a website kung san kayo nagpopost ng pictures para makita ng ibang readers? Ili-link ko na lang po.
Again thank you very much for getting back at me. Marami po kayong natulungan.
Anyone here to help me who to contact with in Puting Buhangin? And i need a quotation on how much we need for 2 days and 2 nights stay. It’s okay if we’re not gonna stay in Puting Buhangin, any villas or resort near in Puting Buhangin will do then.
I highly appreciated your help guys! Thanks!
Hi Guiseppe Renelle, you might want to check out Silangang Nayon Park & Restaurant. Here’s a link.

hi boy kuripot,

This blog is indeed so helpful. We are planning to visit it next week.April 5 or 6.Exited aq coz of good and positive reviews from lots of blogs.Just wonderin, hnde ba nkakatakot maglakad from the place n binabaan ng tric going to the Puting Buhangin?I would appreciate your response po.;)
Hi Mydee!
Great blog! and the best part is napakasipag ni Mr. Barat na sumagot sa comments and questions. Ok yung update ni boy kuripot… Hope to visit the place week after the holy week para less tourists… meron ba silang tents for rent doon? and we’ll [robably commute, meron po kayong idea kung magkano yung tricycle from brgy. Polo to parking area? or baka pwede maka hingi ng contact number ni tatay eli. Maraming salamat!
Hello Jen. Thank you very much. Thank you din kay Boy Kuripot na-update yung blog. Tents? I’m not sure but they have cottages.
Thank you talaga!
Hi Barat,.happy easter.
been there again last April 7 with my kids & nephews,,they really appreciated the place and enjoyed the entire day….and surprisingly,,its too crowded that time…~ 2K siguro ang guests at me mga yate pa na dumating…5 lang nmn yung cottage kaya sa damuhan at sa buhangin na nag palipas ng oras ang karamihan…pero malinis pa rin at di nila kayang labuin ang tubig..crystal clear pa rin..marami rin foriegners akong nakita na maghapon ding nag enjoy sa linis ng dagat..
by the way..sa tricycle from kanto ng binahaan –> parking sa me banka babayad kayo ng 250PhP –> 300PhP depende sa charm mo sa tawaran…fair enough sa 15 Kms na takbo ng tricycle..walang for rent na tents dun…kanya kanyang dala…
malapit na syang idevelop this year..magtatayo daw dun ng hotels and other amenities…hindi na daw sya pag aari ng LUKANG family….owned na sya ng Pagbilao Development Corp…
Its an ideal place for team building..so a bigger number of my team is planning to go there by April 21st and all cottages will be reserve for us for 2 nights…..~ we are about a group of 100…so those who are planning to go there by april, bring your tents on 21st…
e2 nga pala number ni tatay ele(tricycle) mabait at pinakamurang sumingil…09129624204..sabihin nyo lang po kay ybet nyo nakuha number nyo…kung gusto nyo naman discounted na banka ride for island hooping going to borawan island or dampalitan island…look for tatay Presko…mabait at pinakamurang sumingil..sabihin nyo lang tropa kayo ni ybet..di kayo tatagain sa singil nun..
kung gusto nyo pa reserve ng cottage..call gemma the local receptionist 09475911630..
see you there…
Happy Easter, Boy Kuripot. Nasa Cagbalete Island naman ako nung weekend. Trabaho. Thank you sa info. Dami ding nagtatanong. The best ka talaga! Subukan ko pumunta ng 21 so we can meet. My friends are planning to conduct an ocular in Pagbilao and add it to Biyahe Lokal‘s destinations.
Update ko ulit yung blog ko. Dami mo talagang natulong sa mga travelers. Thank you, Sir.
hi! nakakatuawa ung blog at palitan nyo ng comments! btw, i’m planning to go there with my family and my bf’s family on May.. can you give us a heads-up how much will it costs us? cguro min of 12 kmi.. thanks!
hi jenny, depende kasi sa point of origin nyo at ano ang prefered nyong pagpunta.
kung 12 kayo from manila at me dala kayong sasakayan siguro 1.3K/head is good enough for overnyt stay…kung commute cguro 1.7K/each…20K nyo sigurao is good enough…punta kayo ng mas maaga para sulit ang stay nyo..pa reserve na rin kayo ng cottage…masarap don..malinis nag tubig at hindi amoy dagat..dala lang kayo ng maraming mineral water…pwede naman dun na magpabili..yun nga lang mas mataas syempre..i review mo n lang tong blog ni barat…puno na ng info yan..
Hahaha!!! Thanks, Boy Kuripot. Ikaw talaga maasahan.
Hi Jenny, sana nakatulong yung blog sa biyahe niyo. Balitaan mo kami pagkabalik. Have a safe trip. Enjoy.
hi barat..musta ang cagbalete island..ok ba..plan nmin this may punta dun after anawangin…thanks bro
Ok dun.
good day! im planning to go there with my bf this Sunday. how much po kaya ang boat ride from puting buhangin to
Borawan/Dampalitan island?any idea?thank you for posting this!!!
Hi Jellie Bean, kung iikutin nyo from Puti–> Borawan–> Dampalitan 1 way,,it would cost you ~ 2K ->2.5k…good for 8-10 person…pero kung kayo lang 2 ng BF mo..you only need small banka..i would suggest to contact tatay presko…1K~1.5K lang + konting pakisama..abutan nyo ng yosi ( philip ) kasado na yun sa balikan…sa Puti din kasi kayo babalik kasi mas ideal mag overnyt dun kesa sa ibang island..enjoy!
Thaaankss! ang bilis ng reply ^ ^
Thank you, Boy Kuripot! =)
Hi boy kuripot and boy barat!…sa Cagbalete Island kami nagpunta and nagstay kami sa Villa Cleofas…
gondooo!
Hi Jelliebean!
I’m glad to hear that. Teka, kailan kayo pumunta?
Sorry late reply ^ ^
April 15 and 16 kami nandoon… Sa kabilang resort naman kami nagstay. Dont want to mention na lang the name…hehehe. naholdap kasi kami don! imagine??? first time ko maholdap at sa beach pa…but aside from that badtrip,,, maganda ang beach!ganda sana magcamp kasi sarap magstargazing, kaya lang minalas…hehehe pero friendly ang mga tao….pagdating namin sa Sabang, bibili lang kami ng ulam para makain, pinapasok pa kami ni Ate tindera sa bahay nya at don pinakain, well kumain naman kami….may mga nakkikiligo ring turista sa bahay nila Ate. Uso siguro yun dun… :I
Oh my, Jelliebean. I’m so sorry to ear that. Naholdap kayo? San dun?
Is this optional or bawal talga ang vehicles? Sorry for asking, kse ung kasama ko ng trip can’t do long walks (more like not allowed to) lalo na with baggage
BTW, thanks for posting this!
Tama ba, Boy Kuripot? (Siya kase nakapunta recently lang, e)
Tama ka barat…optional po ang trekking…from parking kasi..u have to ride a boat ( 20PhP/Head) cguro ~ 400 meters un..then bababa kayo few steps to transfer to another boat going to puting buhangin( 250Php/ Trip) …BUT…kung dayhike lang nmn kayo at konti lang dala nyong gamit..pwede na rin trekking ~ then about 15 – 20 mins..andun na kayo sa puting buhangin..di nmn sya delikado…pero sa 1st timer…mas mainam na mag boat kayo..para madaanan nyo ung mga rocks formation, boulders at crystal clear water..then bubungad sa inyo pagliko ang puting buhangin…then sa pagbalik na kayo mag trek…
ingat po ang enjoy!
leave no traces!
Hi Lanie,
I agree. Kailangan talaga ng CR for girls, and yes, meron silang CR.
Enjoy. Have a safe trip. Kuwentuhan mo kami pagkabalik mo.
im sorry to say this…too sad..we were so frustrated when we were in puting buhangin…its not white after all…andami mong babayaran ..di mo alam kung para saan..and its not worth it..its too crowded..walang cr..liligo ka sa putikan..walang mabibilihan ng pagkain at wala ka ng space..sa damuhan kami nag stay malapit na puno ng mga basura..then some of my friends nakapitan ng dikya at natusok ng mga sea orchins..then yong nakatabi pa namin na mga naka tent dun sa parteng dulo..mga mukhang DOM…mga manyakis kung makatingin kasi mga lasing…we were soo scared lalo n nung gabi na..its too dark and unsafe..no securities at all..di na kami babalik dun…

Hi Nakangiting Langit,
I’m really sorry to hear that. That’s very sad. But I have to see it for myself though. There are many hidden beach spots in Pagbilao, not far from Puting Buhangin, according to others who have also been there, you might want to check it out. =)
hi nakangiting langit..i like your call sign..
Sorry late reply ^ ^

hi jeliiebean..sad..i think the PDC ( Pagbilao Dev Corp who owns Puting buhanging now ) should start thinking of having securities para mawala na yang mga mapgsamantala na yan..at lagyan nila medyo disenteng palikuran man lang para sa mga babae..at kung pwede …ipagbawal nila alak sa puting buhangin…para walang nangngugulo…at nag ti tirp…tulad nung huli kong punta dun…may mga grupo ng lasing na lalake…ginawang CR ung shoreline…tinabunan nila ng buhangin…landmine daw nila sa mga magtatabun ng buhangin..binababoy nila ng ganda ng kalikasan…pagbabayaran nyo yan mga balahura kayo..
Hi! Magtatanong lang.. Paano ba ang magpunta sa Puting buhangin by land? How much yong babayaran sa parking fee? Entrance fee? cottage? Pwede bang pumasok ang sasakyan. Saan kami mas makakamura kapag magboat or through land? May kasama kasi kaming matanda. Thank you.

hi biyaherong barat! =) we’re planning to pagbilao for oct 13-14 with a van and 4 tents (8 pax) and we’re doing do-it-yourself. is there a car parking for our van? and where’s the best beach for overnight stay– borawan or dampalitan beach? we have contacted some person there and they offer 800/head inclusive of boat tour for the 2 island and w/ foods. we are really excited!! its really our first time for this travel. hope you can give us some tips too. thanks!!
Hi Stephanie,
I haven’t been to either Borawan or Dampalitan. We camped at Puting Buhangin Beach. There’s a parking lot if you’re going to Puting Buhangin, but then you’d have to walk towards the beach for about 20-30 minutes, or you could rent a boat.
Check out the comments here in this post. Our very good friends have updated the information as I haven’t revisited the place yet. Everyone had their own stories to share that may come handy in your trip.
Enjoy the trip. It’s really a beautiful place. Happy travels, Stephanie. =)
Nice pics of puting buhangin! Been to this place last year and took the same route as you did the first time. The second time was by boat from Padre Burgos. Really great pics!
Hi Cessie,
Thank you very much. Haven’t visited Pagbilao for quite some time now, but I’m really looking forward early next year. Might as well try your route, see Borawan as well. Where in Padre Burgos did you stay?
Thanks again, Cessie.
Hi Jed! We stayed at the home of the Vista Playa owner. Vista Playa is the eatery by the highway en route to Unisan. Here’s an old post which you may find handy http://mgastoryanikinagot.blogspot.com/2011/04/padre-burgos.html
Great. That’s very nice of you, Cessie. Thank you very much. We’ve been planning this trip for years I just don’t know why we never pushed through with it. Gets cancelled or changed destinations every time. I’ll share this link with some friends maybe we could finally agree on visiting Padre Burgos.
Thank you very much, Cessie. =)
Ei, don’t mention it
Thanks to your Baler posts as well ’cause it’s fuelling my excitement. We’re going end of this month! See you around Jed!
Cool. I’m sure you’ll love it. See you around, Cessie. Have a nice evening.
been there in the early days and it was free, pwde mag-tent pero bawal overnight. crystal clear and cool waters, sarap maglublob khit tanghaling tapat.
I stumbled upon your blog, very informative and indeed, amazing shots. itching to travel the Island Philippines (if budget permits). Keep it up!
Hi Cecile,
Hahaha. Yeah, if budget permits. Same here.
Thank you for dropping by my blog, Cecile.
Have a great day.
Hi.. I’m mitch.. your blog caught my attention po..well, was also planning for an overnight stay to any beach with bf on feb.27.. manggagaling po kami ng sta.mesa,manila. I was smitten po dun sa pictures mo and i wanted to ask if 3k is enough kaya for 2persons inclusive of fares back and forth, food and a 1-night room rent? thanks thanks
Hi Mitch,
Sa beach mismo there are no resorts, but there are some hotels nearby, tapos pwedeng magrent na lang kayo ng bangka.
Thanks for dropping by. I hope I was able to help. Have a safe trip.
Ei biyaherong barat is it safe to bring kids? like 7 month old and 10 and 11yo? thankz I want to go there with them ..
Hi Eckzplorer,
When I visited Pagbilao, I saw families with kids. The waters were calm so I guess it’s safe for children. The hike is not so far, and you may even choose to get a small boat to get you there if you prefer. =)
Sir, ‘di po resort ‘to, e.
I’m sorry, Ma’am pala.
But you could check out Silangang Nayon Resort (also in Pagbilao), you could check-in there, and take a boat to Puting Buhangin.
Interesting blog! thanks for your complete infor….where planning to visit this place this weekend! God Bless po!
Thanks, Yew. Have a safe trip. Enjoy. =)

Hello Iam Anesh,
Thank you for the wonderful input. Kamusta naman po yung trip niyo? Marami pong tao? How was the place now? Haven’t visited Puting Buhangin for 3 years na yata.
naghahanap kami ng magandang beach and i think puting buhangin is one of the bests. magkano po kaya ang entance fee per head (kids and adults) at ang cottage? paano ang papunta jan kung galing ng rizal? ideal ba ito sa 50-60 people?buong clan po kasi kami. thanks biyaherong barat for the infos, very informative.
hi ..bianang of rizal,, i suggest na. magpabook kau ng isang resort sa padre burgos or nearby hotel and resort.. merun din silang package with the boat transfer to puting buhangin, dampalitan and borawan…or u can email us for the arrangement..sunburst_travelcnd@yahoo.com

Hi Rema,
I hope its not yet to late. Anyway, please read the comments. Boy Kuripot gave us a contact person here in this thread.
Hello….just finished reading some of your advisers n followers….its so cute n informative. Ika nga, sugod na agad…btw, sa iyong pakiwari at pananaw lang sir, would u think na its better to bring car or mag- commute na lang…travelling with 3 kids kasi….ksi base sa mga nabasa ko medyo di nman masyadong hassle ang byahe….slamat po in advance sa reply..kaso problem ko mga bitbitin…gamit ng mga bata….
Hello Rakel,
Parang mas ok kung magdala kayong auto. Mas convenient, for me lang, a. You’re right, medyo may kalayuan baka mapagod ang mga kids.
Thank you very much. =)
Hello again,
